Humboldt University of Berlin – A Closer Look
Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin is Germany’s one of the oldest and most prestigious public universities, founded long ago in 1810. It has three campuses, with each of them having specialties:
Campus Adlershof – Here is where the natural sciences are housed, such as physics, chemistry, and biology.
Campus Mitte – The core of the university, with arts, humanities, law, economics, business, and theology.
Campus Nord – Emphasizes life sciences, such as medicine and areas of research-related to medicine.
Half of the students in a recent year were pursuing their bachelor’s degrees. Similar to most German public universities, Humboldt does not have tuition fees—students instead pay a modest semester fee to cover administrative expenses. Some accommodation for students in need is provided by Studentenwerk, a public student services company.
